A worker self-directed nonprofit. Board members, co-leaders, and volunteers across California and beyond, building a state-level Doughnut.

Members.

JO

Julie O'Dwyer

Board Member

San Francisco and Ireland (geographically indecisive)

Julie is the founder of Danu Strategy, a strategy and systems advisory consultancy. She loves science, learning, sport, and family and community time.

Working on Board duties, plus building systems to help CalDEC run smoother behind the scenes.

Because "grow forever, figure out the consequences later" was always going to age badly, and the Doughnut is one of the most useful maps I've found for doing it differently and I'd rather help build the thing that comes next than spend another decade explaining why the current thing is broken.

Working on San Francisco Doughnut, Gaia Circle, Mission Circle

It's easy to say what's effed up, but more valuable and actionable to model how life thrives in harmony with the planet. It's the only way to get there.

I joined CalDEC because I see Doughnut Economics as the best way to unify within one framework all the important work people are already doing to stop greed and exploitation, and build systems that meet everyone's needs while protecting the planet for future generations.

Doughnut Economics deals with economics on a systems level that goes beyond the boundaries of mainstream Neoclassical Economics, and is more aligned with my values than that of Neoliberalism.
